Can my synchronicity experiment help me win $25,000 and a chance to host my podcast on iHeartRadio????

I have a BIG announcement today but I’m also turning it into a little synchronicity experiment with the Universe, and I hope you'll join in to help me see if synchronicity alone can help me win a big contest.

Here's what I did a few weeks ago...I entered iHeartRadio’s Top Host Podcast competition. And I made it into the first round. 🎉

The grand prize is pretty incredible: $25,000, the opportunity to create a six-episode podcast with iHeartRadio, and an appearance on the Ryan Seacrest show.

Voting officially began earlier TODAY and I think my intention is already having an impact because as of 4:45pm I'm in 3rd place and haven't told anyone about this yet.

However, when I entered this competition, there was something I didn’t realize before I submitted my application. iHeart Radio doesn't select the winner. The winner is determined by votes by friends, family. followers and the public. And yes… people can even PAY for additional votes. 🤢 🤮

As soon as I read that, my competitive teenage self had some big feelings 😡. Because I’ve been in a few popularity contest before, all of which destroyed my confidence and made me hate things like this.

Let me take you back to one high school experience that I'm probably not over yet…

I was a 3-sport athlete and my favorite sport was soccer. I was a great soccer player and was awarded MVP in my senior year of High School. BUT there was another athlete on my team who was also incredibly good at basketball and softball, of which we also played together, but soccer was my sport and the only one that I was better at than her.

At our senior awards banquet ceremony, instead of receiving MVP on my own, I learned that I would be sharing the award with her after my name was called.

"The MVP award goes to, April Hannah and..." AND??? WTF!

I was crushed. I chocked back tears for almost two hours after walking up there to grab my trophy and cried the whole way home. I was yelling at the top of my lungs while my Mom drove me home, stating how unfair this was and that "I didn't want the fu#king trophy". I ended up throwing it away, that's how mad I was.

The next day, my coach pulled me aside privately because he knew me well and those who know me well, know that I don't hide my facial expressions very well and I am sure the disappointment was written all over my face the night before.

My coach, who was also the athletic director, told me that I deserved the MVP award and that I was the stronger soccer player. But there were "politics involved". The other teammates parents were very involved with the booster club, contributed financially to the school, and he felt that not giving their daughter the award would create problems for the athletic department. "It's not personal April, it's political." She went on to win the MVP in Basketball and Softball that night. 🙄

So the award was shared. I haven't forgotten that day or what that felt like. If you ever played soccer and had the ball kicked into your stomach, it was that kind of "knock the wind out of you" feeling.

I am sure a lot of us have our own version of that story and maybe you can relate if you were ever picked last at gym, teased by the popular girls, watched someone else get an opportunity because they were more popular, had money or connections or knew the right people.

Those experiences can stay with us. Even decades later, something seemingly innocent can poke that wounded inner teenager who remembers exactly what it felt like not to be chosen.

So when I discovered how this contest worked, I had a few choices:

  1. I could not tell anyone and pull out of the competition.

  2. Turn the next several months into a giant marketing campaign asking you to vote for me over and over again.

Nope. None of those choices worked for me. So I came up with another choice.

3. Let the Universe decide.

I was going to make sure my inner teenage part knew she she was loved and didn't have to throw in the towel because of what happened almost 30 years ago.

I want to see if we can win this contest through synchronicity.

No pressure to vote more than once, no buying votes (I don’t want money to determine the outcome of this experiment.)

Instead, I want to see what happens when one person shares something with another person, who shares it with another person, who tells their coworker, who forwards it to their sister, their mother, their father, their best friend.

And watch people who I have never met vote for me and see if I can win this contest on the pure experiment of word of mouth. I want to let the universe guide who sees the link, whose inbox it goes to, who sees my social media page and who finds me organically.

That’s the experiment.

You can cast one free vote every day.

So I’m asking you to save this email or bookmark my voting link.

And whenever I pop into your mind between now and October 15th, take that as your little synchronicity nudge. Go vote and see where I am in the standings. There are 72 other people in my group.

And if you’re willing and feel called to, send the link to someone else and tell them:

“You’re officially part of April Hannah's synchronicity experiment.”

If you lose this email, don’t worry. I’ll keep the voting link available on my social media pages, too.

So what happens if we actually pull this off?

I'd reinvest the $ 25,000 into the next chapter of my work.

My current computer is begging for retirement. 😂 I’m constantly deleting files and moving things onto hard drives just to create enough space to work.

I’d invest in a new computer, professional camera, microphone and the equipment needed to create the kind of content I’ve been dreaming about.

And the podcast I want to create?

The Art of What Comes Next.

A podcast about something I care deeply about:

Helping women of our generation realize that we are allowed to reinvent ourselves at any age.

I want to talk with women who changed careers, started businesses, discovered creativity later in life, followed an idea they couldn’t stop thinking about, or simply decided that the next chapter of their life was going to look different from the last one.

At almost 50, I’m living that experiment myself as I continue reinventing myself as an artist.

So maybe it’s fitting that the way this podcast gets created could become its own story about trusting what comes next.

First stop: October 15th.

That’s when I should know whether I’ve made it through this first round. I have absolutely no idea where this experiment is going to go.

Maybe we make it one round, two or the last round! Somehow this email might get forwarded to exactly the right number of people at exactly the right time and we win the whole thing. There are a total of 5 rounds and this could go into January.

That’s the fun part, we have 3 months to try this out and I'm not going to worry about the votes or spend time marketing it. Just the initial announcement, and if we keep advancing.

I’m going to let the Universe handle the HOW.

You just handle the vote when you feel the nudge. 😉

And especially if you were ever the kid who was picked last, overlooked, underestimated, teased, or watched someone else get the opportunity because they were more popular or had more money…

You’re exactly the kind of vote I want behind me.

Let’s see what synchronicity can do.

P.S. Remember: one FREE vote per day. Please don’t buy votes for me. The whole point of this experiment is to see how far genuine support, word of mouth and a little synchronicity can take us.
