Two Motherless Daughters:

FROM LOSS TO LEARNING

Our Mission

IADC Intensives, founded by two motherless daughters and seasoned mental health clinicians Kelly Daugherty and April Hannah, are dedicated to providing grief-informed care through transformative retreats, one-on-one sessions, and clinician training. Kelly and April draw from their own experiences of loss to help others navigate the deep sadness of grief. Specializing in Induced After-Death Communication (an EMDR-based therapy), we empower participants to find closure and connection. We also offer continuing education credits and Grief-Informed Professional certification through Evergreen Certifications for mental health professionals, advancing compassionate, research-backed care for those facing profound loss.

Testimonial from a retreat attendee

“That time with you made such a difference to me. I wish every grieving person could get to this place. I still have tears, and sometimes at awkward moments (like last week when a little town band in northern Vermont played Somewhere Out There from the children’s movie An American Tail), but I am so much more settled and peaceful.”

We’ve carefully chosen the Field Memorial House as our dedicated meeting space. Perched atop a hill, this serene building offers breathtaking views of the lake, creating a peaceful and soothing environment.

We will gather here to create our ancestor altar above the cozy fireplace. Your IADC sessions and morning sound healing meditations will also take place here, supported by our ancestor altar.

  • Outdoor fire pit surrounded by Adirondack chairs at sunset with water in the background.

    Grief Fire Ritual

On Saturday night, we will gather for a transformative fire ceremony to honor our ancestors and deepen the healing journey of the retreat. This sacred ritual, set against the backdrop of the peaceful waters, invites you to release grief and set your intentions for healing.
As the flames rise, we’ll symbolically offer our grief to the fire, allowing it to cleanse, transform, and renew our connection to both our loved ones and ourselves.
Surrounded by the elemental power of fire and water, this ceremony serves as a profound moment of reflection, release, and spiritual connection. Be sure to bring layers of clothing to wear outside by the fire. We recommend also bringing appropriate footwear as the grounds can be wet during the Spring months.

About the Program

Join us for a profound 3-day grief retreat designed to help you reconnect with the energy of your deceased loved one. Using the Induced After-Death Communication (IADC) eye movement technique, this retreat creates a safe, supportive space for the opportunity to make meaningful contact with a person you loved who has died. The program is limited to a small number of participants.

WHAT TO EXPECT

Our After-Death Connection Retreat is thoughtfully designed to guide you through the heart of your grief, helping you gently shift from the heavy focus on the loss itself to embracing the life, love, and enduring connection you hold with the person who has passed.

During this immersive experience, you’ll be supported in addressing the core sadness of your grief, while finding new ways to live with the finality of your loved one’s passing. The retreat also creates space for you to work through any unfinished emotions or "loose ends," offering an opportunity for emotional resolution and healing conversations with the deceased.
